Types of sentences based on the purpose

দুই বা ততোধিক শব্দ লগ লাগি কোনো এটা সম্পূৰ্ণ অৰ্থ প্ৰকাশ কৰিলে তাক Sentence বোলে। যেনে –
Kings Dasarath ruled in Ayodhya.
What do you want from me?

কেতিয়াবা আদেশ বুজাবলৈ এটা মাত্ৰ শব্দই এটা বাক্য প্ৰকাশ কৰিব পাৰে। যেনে -Do, Go. এনেকুৱা Sentence ত Subject টো সদায় You হয় আৰু ই উহ্য থাকে।

Types of Sentences in English Grammar [Assamese Medium]

অৰ্থ আৰু উদ্দেশ্য অনুসৰি Sentence ক সাধাৰণতে 5 টা ভাগত ভগাব পাৰি –

1. Assertive Sentence
2. Interrogative Sentence
3. Imperative Sentence
4. Exclamatory Sentence
5. Optative Sentence

Assertive/Declarative Sentence

যি sentence অৰ দ্বাৰা কোনাে ব্যক্তি, বস্তু, ঘটনা আদিৰ বৰ্ণনা দিয়া হয়, তাক Assertive Sentence বােলে। Assertive Sentence অৰ শেষত Full stop(.) দিয়া হয়। যেনে –

• Alex is a good baseball player.
• He plays for the Rockers club.
• He always gives his best effort to the team.
• He is a good leader.
• I like him for his intensity.
• He plays with passion.
• Alex feels awkward when someone gives a compliment to him.
• He is a humble man.
• He is popular among his friends but he feels awkward with strangers.
• He has many fans in his locality.
• His father was a lawyer.
• When he was young, his father died.
• He is a real fighter.
• He fought against all the odds of life and became successful.
• His fans love him.
• His mother raised him to be a gentleman.
• He is always humble and patient with his fans.
• Mahatma Gandhi is called the father of the nation.
• A pen is mightier than a sword.
• The Sepoy Mutiny took place in 1857.

Imperative Sentence

যি sentence অৰ দ্বাৰা কোনা আদেশ (order), উপদেশ (advice), অনুৰােধ (request) আদি প্ৰকাশ কৰা হয়, তাক Imperative Sentence বােলে। যেনে—

• Do the sum at once.
• Be respectful to your elders.
• Please open the door.

Interrogative Sentence

যি Sentence অৰ দ্বাৰা কোনাে প্রশ্ন (question) সােধা হয় তাক Interrogative Sentence বােলে। Interrogative Sentence অৰ শেষত প্রশ্নবােধক (?) চিন দিয়া হয়। যেনে—

• What class do you read in?
• Do you know how to swim?
• Are they happy today?
• Which place do you belong to?

Exclamatory Sentence

যি Sentence অৰ দ্বাৰা মনৰ আবেগ, অনুভূতি, হর্ষ, উল্লাস, দুখ, আশ্চৰ্য্য আদি প্ৰকাশ কৰা হয় তাক তাক Exclamatory Sentence বােলা হয়। Exclamatory Sentence ত সদায় Note of Exclamation (!) ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা হয়। যেনে –

• Hurrah, the Indian team won the match!
• Alas, the old lady has lost her purse!
• What beautiful scenery it is!
• How intelligent the boy looks!

Optative Sentence

যি Sentence অৰ দ্বাৰা মনৰ ইচ্ছা, আকাঙ্খা, কামনা, আশীর্বাদ, অভিশাপ আদি প্ৰকাশ কৰা হয় তাক Optative Sentence বােলা হয়। Optative Sentence সাধাৰণতে “May” word ৰে আৰম্ভ কৰা হয়। যেনে—

• May God bless you.
• May the boy pass the examination with flying colors.
• May God destroy the traitor.
