Articles কি? Articles ৰ প্ৰকাৰ কি কি?
Articles বুলি কলে আমি সাধাৰনতে ‘A, ‘An’ আৰু ‘The’ বুজি পাও। হয়, Articles A An The এই তিনিটা। ইহঁত দুই প্রকাৰৰ আৰু সেইবোৰ হল –
- Indefinite Article
- Definite Article
Indefinite Article:ইহঁত কোনাে Noun অৰ আগত বহি তাক সাধাৰণভাৱে বুজায় বাবে ইহঁতক Indefinite Article বােলে।
Definite Article: কোনাে Noun অক নির্দিষ্টকৈ বুজাব বাবে ইয়াক Definite Article বোলে।
A আৰু An ৰ ব্যৱহাৰ । Uses of Indefinite Article
(i) কোনাে Countable Singular Noun (গণনা কৰিব পৰা এক বচন বিশেষ্য) অৰ আগত a আৰু an ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা হয়। কোনাে Consonant ৰে আৰম্ভ হােৱা Word ৰ আগত a বহে। আনহাতে, Vowel ৰে আৰম্ভ হােৱা Word অৰ আগত an বহে। যেনে – a man, a boy, a girl, a woman, an egg, an eagle, an apple etc.
(ii) আকৌ Vowel ৰে আৰম্ভ হােৱা Word ৰ উচ্চাৰণ যদি ইউ’ (yu) আৰু ৱা (wa) ৰ দৰে হয় তেন্তে তাৰ আগত ‘a’ বহে। যেনে— a European, a union, a urinal, a university, a one rupee note etc
(iii) কোনো সংক্ষিপ্ত নাম (short abbreviation) Consonant আৰম্ভ হলেও যদি স্বৰ ধ্বনি (Vowel sound) ৰে উচ্চাৰিত হয়, তেন্তে তাৰ আগত ‘an’ বহে। যেনে— an M.A., an M. L. A., an H. E. School etc.
(iv) Consonant ৰে আৰম্ভ হােৱা word ৰ উচ্চাৰণত যদি প্রথম আখৰটো লুপ্ত থাকি vowel sound ৰে উচ্চাৰিত হয়, তেন্তে তাৰ আগত an বহে। যেনে – an honest boy, an hour, an heir etc.
Uses of Definite Article । The ৰ ব্যৱহাৰ
(i) কোনাে Noun অক নির্দিষ্টকৈ বুজাবলৈ তাৰ আগত the Article বহে। যেনে –
I know the boy.
The man knows the story.
I bought the pen yesterday.
(ii) কোনাে Noun অক এবাৰ উল্লেখ কৰি পিছত আকৌ উল্লেখ কৰিলে তাৰ আগত ‘the বহে। যেনে–
We saw a man in the field. The man was carrying a
bundle on his head. The bundle was very heavy.
(iii) মাত্র একেটাই বস্তু বুজোৱা Noun ৰ আগত ‘the বহে। যেনে—
The Sun, the moon, the earth, the sky, the north pole, etc.
(iv) Superlative degree আৰু ক্ৰম বুজোৱা (first, second) word ৰ আগত ‘the’ বহে। যেনে –
Mount Everest is the highest peak in the world.
Raju is the first boy in the class.
December is the twelfth month of the year.
The Tajmahal is the most wonderful monument in India.
(v) কোনাে শ্রেণী বা জাতি বুজাবলৈ ” ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা হয়। যেনে—
The elephant is a large animal.
The cuckoo sings in the spring season.
The cow gives us milk.
The Assamese speak Assamese in Assam.
The Indians like to live in peace.
(vi) বাদ্যযন্ত্র (Musical instrument) ৰ আগত definite article ‘the’ বহে।
He likes to play the violin.
He has learned to play the guitar.
(vii) সাগৰ, মহাসাগৰ, নদী, যােজক, ধ্বতমালা আদিৰ আগত ‘the’ বহে৷ যেনে-
The Pacific ocean, the Himalayas, the Brahmaputra,
The Alps etc
(viii) সংক্ষিপ্ত নামেৰে (Short Abbreviation) লিখা দেশ, সংস্থা আদিৰ নামৰ আগত ‘the’ বহে। যেনে—
The U.S.A.
The U.N.O.
The U.K. ইত্যাদি।
(ix) ধর্মগ্রন্থ আৰু পুৰণি মহাকাব্য (Epic) ৰ নামৰ আগত ‘the’ ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা হয়। যেনে-
The Ramayana was written by Valmiki.
The Bible is a holy book for Christians.
(x) বিখ্যাত ঐতিহাসিক ঘটনাৰ আগত ‘the’ ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা হয়। যেনে—
The Sepoy Mutiny (চিপাহী বিদ্ৰোহ) took place in 1857.
The First World War started in 1914.
(xi) কোনাে বিখ্যাত যানবাহন, ট্রেইন আদিৰ নামৰ আগত ‘the’ ব্যৱহাৰ হয়। যেনে –
The Rajdhani Express runs between Guwahati and Delhi.
The Titanic sank in the Atlantic ocean.
The Brahmaputra Mail is late today.
(xii) ভাষাৰ নামৰ পিছত language শব্দটো থাকিলে আৰু ঋতুৰ নামৰ পিছত season শব্দটো থাকিলে তাৰ আগত ‘the’ বহে।যেনে—
It is not easy to learn the English language.
I like the spring season.
(xiii) শ্রেণী বুজোৱা adjective ৰ আগত ‘the’ ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা হয়।যেনে—
The rich should feel for the poor.
The wise never run after money.
